These specifications are designed to provide reasonable protection against such interference in a residential installation. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. In that event, your right to use the equipment may be limited by FCC regulations, and you may be required to correct any interference to radio or television communications at your own expense. If the interference stops, it was probably caused by the Cisco equipment or one of its peripheral devices. If the equipment causes interference to radio or television reception, try to correct the interference by using one or more of the following measures: Only RJ45 data connectors can be connected to these sockets. If the voltage indicated on the label is different from the power outlet voltage, do not connect the power injector to this power outlet. You are in a situation that could cause bodily injury. Before you work on any equipment, be aware of the hazards involved with electrical circuitry and be familiar with standard practices for preventing accidents. This pre-standard solution had relatively low power requirements (approximately 6 to 7 watts). Later generations of pre-standard power supported higher power modes (up to 15 Watts) and added power negotiation via Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP). In July 2003, the IEEE ratified the 802.1af standard (up to 15.4 watts of power). With the ratification of IEEE 802.3af, Cisco supports both IEEE 802.3af and Cisco pre-standard PoE concurrently. Cisco has also extended pre-standard power management using CDP negotiation to Cisco IEEE 802.3af compliant devices to further optimize Power Source Equipment (PSE) power management. When using a Cisco pre-standard source for power, it is important to check the power draw in watts ( Table 1 ) and verify that the PSE can supply enough wattage to the powered device. Depending on the version of your PSE, enough power may not be available to supply some of the newer access points. The power injector provides up to 60 W over all four wire pairs of shielded, outdoor rated Ethernet cable. The wire gauge of the cable must be 26 AWG. The Ethernet cable from the power injector to the access point must be a shielded outdoor-rated CAT5e or higher Ethernet cable with a 0.20 to 0.35 inch diameter. The power injector can be mounted on most horizontal and vertical surfaces, but must be mounted in a vertical orientation to comply with safety requirements. If it is not installed in accordance with Cisco’s installation instructions, it may cause interference with radio and television reception. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device in accordance with the specifications in part 15 of the FCC rules.

Cisco Inline Power Support Cisco Inline Power SupportCisco launched inline Power over Ethernet (PoE) in March, 2000 to power Cisco Aironet access points.

The single-port Cisco Aironet power injectors combine 48-VDC power with the data signal, sending both to the Cisco Aironet access point or bridge. Cisco Aironet 350 Series access points and bridges include an integrated power supply and injector (AIR-PWRINJ). The power injector for Cisco Aironet 1100 and 1200 series access points (AIR-PWRINJ3) works with the power supply provided with the access point. The Cisco Aironet Power Injector Media Converter (AIR-PWRINJ-FIB) converts fiber media to Category 5 media and combines the resulting data signal with power for delivery to the access point or bridge. The power injector media converter accepts 48 VDC power from either the barrel connector of the local power supply or an alternative 48 VDC power source. When powered by an alternate 48 VDC power source connected using the provided power supply pigtail, the Power Injector Media Converter is UL2043 certified and suitable for installation in environmental air spaces. The local power supply is provided with the Cisco Aironet 1100 and 1200 series access points, while applicable local power supplies for the Cisco Aironet 350 Series access points and bridges are available separately. Page 3 of 6 For the Cisco Aironet 1100 and 1200 Series Access Points, the Cisco Aironet Power Injector (part number AIR-PWRINJ3) can be configured to your order. Alternatively, for all Cisco Aironet access points and bridges, the appropriate Cisco Aironet power injector, including the Cisco Aironet Power Injector Media Converter (part number AIR-PWRINJ-FIB) can be ordered separately as a spare part. The Power Injector LR only supports the 1400 Series Bridge.

Cisco Aironet 1100 and 1200 series power injectors can be used with Cisco Aironet 350 Series devices, but because of the higher current demands of the Cisco Aironet 1100 and 1200 series access points, the Cisco Aironet 350 Series Power Injector cannot be used with the Cisco Aironet 1100 and 1200 series devices Cisco Systems, Inc. Currently, Cisco has shipped more than 18 million inline power capable ports on the Catalyst 3500, 4500, and 6500 families of Ethernet switches. PoE was quickly recognized as a desirable feature for networked products and the IEEE began standardization efforts to enable multi-vendor interoperability. Devices that use PoE include access points, IP phones, and video cameras. With the recent ratification of the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard, Cisco supports both IEEE 802.3af and prestandard PoE powered devices. Cisco has also enhanced prestandard power management using Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) negotiation to include the Cisco IEEE 802.3af compliant devices to further optimize inline power management. The data in this section is based on powering single- and dual-band Cisco Aironet 1200 series access points with 802.11b, 802.11a, and 802.11g radios. Dual-band access points require more power than single-band access points. Table 1 contains an inline power matrix that illustrates the power capabilities of several prestandard Cisco inline power sources. Note Table 1 includes only the Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Point because of its dual-band operation. There are no known problems with powering single band access points. Cisco Aironet Power Over Ethernet Application Note 2 OL-6862-01 IEEE 802.3af Power Support IEEE 802.3af Power SupportCisco is a contributing member of the IEEE 802.3af committee and strives to continue the evolution of technology standards by delivering IEEE 802.3af-compliant PoE power sources, such as the Cisco Catalyst 6500, 4500, 3560, and 3750 switches. For investment protection, all Cisco 802.3af compliant PoE products also support the pre-standard Cisco PoE implementation for compatibility with the installed base of Cisco powered end-devices, such as IP telephones and wireless access points. The Catalyst 6500, 4000m and 3500 XL switches were tested for transient, continuous, and fault responses.

Cisco Aironet Power Over Ethernet Application Note OL-6862-01 3 Testing Scope and Results The Catalyst 3550 was tested for the following: switch management on new card type and port identity, SNMP recognition on new card type and port identity, LED operation, post reporting, access point power management, SBC alarms, CDP alarms, and hot-swap support. The following sections contain inline power support details and test results for each Cisco product. Catalyst 6000For inline power support, Cisco CatOS 5.5(1) or later is recommended. The Catalyst 6000 switch provides 48-volt DC inline power over standard Category 5 unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable up to 100 meters. The Catalyst 6500 supports inline power via several line cards including WS-X6348-RJ-45, WS-X6348-RJ45V, WS-X6148-RJ45V, WS-X6148-GE-TX, and the WS-X6548-GE-TX. The maximum wattage per port supported by this product is typically 7 W, but you might see up to 12.5 W per port because of different types of over current protection being used. These line cards are field upgradable to support IEEE 802.3af. When the maximum wattage per port is 7 W, dual-band access points are not supported because of their extra power requirement. The WS-X6148-GE-TX and the WS-X6548-GE-TX cards both support Cisco inline power (up to 11 W per port), but they are not recommended for dual-band access points. The voice power module can provide a total of 386 W, which is sufficient to power 48 phones simultaneously. Cisco IP phones use approximately 6.5 W each, but their design does not limit the amount of power that can be drawn from a single port. To support the demand for IP phone inline power, Cisco has developed a 2500-watt power supply (WS-CAC-2500W, WS-CDC-2500W) for the Catalyst 6000 switch family. The WS-CAC-2500W power supply provides 1300 W when connected to a 110 VAC source and 2500 W when connected to a 220 VAC source. The WS-CDC-2500W power supply always provides 2500 W.

Internal testing and field use does not show any inline power issues with this chassis, which includes all shipping line cards that support inline power 48-port RJ-45 and Voice daughter boards (WS-X6348-RJ-45 and WS-X6348-RJ45V) for base Indus and Hydra modules. However, the Catalyst 4006 provides inline power directly from the Fast Ethernet module and only can support 400 W per line card. A Catalyst 4500 line card supports 15.4 W per port for all ports. The Catalyst 4003 uses the Catalyst Inline Power Patch Panel to provide inline power. To support the new demand for inline IP phone power, Cisco developed an auxiliary DC power shelf that supplies the Catalyst 4006 with 48 VDC required to power IP phones. The Catalyst 4000 can only provide 7 W from an inline power port. For additional information, refer to these URL: Catalyst 3750The Catalyst 3750 can provide 15.4 W per port for all 24 ports. The Catalyst 3750 is the first Catalyst switch to be IEEE 802.3af compliant and supports all power classes of inline power devices. Power class details are shown below: Class 1 requires 3 W of power Class 2 requires 7 W of power Class 3 requires 15 W of power Class 4 is reserved Catalyst 3550-24-PWRThe Catalyst 3550-24-PWR provides 15.4 W per port at the switch output. The Catalyst 3550-24-PWR supports the Cisco proprietary inline power implementation. The inline power feature is 48 VDC power provided over standard Category 5 UTP cabling up to 100 meters. The inline power controller is a quad controller (group of 4 ports) and supplies 48 V to each of the ports individually. Memory part number information provided in the tables below are for HPE supplied memory only. The spare part number does not provide RoHS-compliant information. For purposes of this document, compatibility is defined as functional equivalency.

The minimum requirements for functional equivalency are size, speed, and configuration. If any of these three parameters differ between two DIMMs, then the DIMMs are incompatible. For example, a 2GB memory module built with 1GB parts is not compatible with a 2GB memory module built with 512MB parts. In addition, a PC2100 DIMM is not compatible with a PC2700 DIMM, even if size and configuration are the same.HPE uses a comprehensive qualification process to ensure module compatibility for memory upgrades and replacements. Using this process, any two modules that receive the same spare part number will be compatible.Failure to follow the memory installation rules and guidelines could cause damage to the memory and or to the server itself. If a client device’s SSID does not match the SSID of an wireless device in radio range, the client device will not associate. For example, if you set WEP Key 3 on your client adapter to 0987654321 and select it as the transmit key, you must set WEP Key 3 on the wireless device to exactly the same value. The wireless device does not need to use Key 3 as its transmit key, however.

This document is Cisco Public Information. It is designed specifically for challenging environments like factories, warehouses, and large retail establishments that require the antenna versatility associated with connectorized antennas, as well as a rugged metal enclosure and a broad operating temperature range. The Cisco Aironet 1200 Series meets the needs of today’s applications and protects future network infrastructure investments. The modular design of the 1200 Series provides a high- performance 802.11g configured access point that allows for either single- or dual-radio configuration. While the 802.11g-configured access point meets the needs of most customers and applications that may not have a current need for 802.11a, an easy 802.11a upgrade kit is available, to increase scalability and performance with complete backward compatibility for legacy clients. The Cisco Aironet 1200 Series is a component of the Cisco Unified Wireless Network, a comprehensive solution that delivers an integrated, end-to-end wired and wireless network. Using the radio and network management features of the Cisco Unified Wireless Network for simplified deployment, the Cisco Aironet 1200 Series extends the security, scalability, reliability, ease of deployment, and manageability available in wired networks to the wireless LAN. The Cisco Aironet 1200 Series is available in two versions: unified or autonomous. Unified access points operate with the Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) and work in conjunction with Cisco wireless LAN controllers and the Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS).

Although it took an astonishing twelve hours for customer support to get back to me, since I registered my complaint with them they have been very helpful. I still haven't used this router since I'm waiting for the required antennae I had to order somewhere else. Before I show you how I configured this wireless AP, let me give you a brief rundown of its capabilities. For a business, I would never install any consumer-grade AP unless I were looking for trouble. The reason is that those consumer-grade APs (the ones you can buy at your local electronics store) just don't have the capabilities, the reliability of connections, the troubleshooting, or the throughput to do what you need them to do. These cover the connectors for the wireless antennas (two on the front and two on the back). On the back are the connectors for the 5Ghz network. These antennas can be bought separately and are required only if you want to extend the range in some way or do point-to-point bridging between APs. In a business network, you often want to extend or shape the wireless range, both for coverage and security. In that case, you would want to investigate and use the external antennas.

Using the radio and network management features of the Cisco Unified Wireless Network for simplified deployment, the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series extends the security, scalability, reliability, ease of deployment, and manageability available in wired networks to the wireless LAN. The Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series is available in two versions: unified or autonomous. Unified access points operate with the Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) and work in conjunction with Cisco wireless LAN controllers and the Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS). When configured with LWAPP, the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series can automatically detect the best-available Cisco wireless LAN controller and download appropriate policies and configuration information with no manual intervention. Autonomous access points, along with the CiscoWorks WLSE, deliver a core set of features and may be field-upgraded to take advantage of the full benefits of the Cisco Unified Wireless Network as requirements evolve. The Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series supports 802.11i, Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), WPA2, and numerous Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) types. WPA and WPA2 are the Wi-Fi Alliance certifications for interoperable, standards-based WLAN security. These certifications support IEEE 802.

I went to my DHCP server and found the IP address that it had obtained: In my case, the DHCP-obtained IP address was 192.168.1.106. Notice the changes I made in the following screen. Not all of these are required.I was redirected to the new IP address of the AP and I had to log in again. Both username and passwords are Cisco with a capital “ C ” (case-sensitive). In addition, the factory default IP address for the access point will be 10.0.0.1. Step 2 Press and hold the MODE button while you reconnect power to the access point. Step 3 Hold the MODE button until the Status LED turns amber (approximately 1 to 2 seconds), and release the button. Step 4 Reboot the access point by performing a power-cycle (switch off and then on) After the access point reboots, you must reconfigure the access point by using the Web-browser interface or the CLI. It is clear that once the access point sees the MODE button pressed for 20 seconds (the time it takes until the status LED turns amber), it initiates the recovery process: Following are the steps required: The access point will present a number of different management options. The second option is especially handy in case you are required to perform this procedure remotely. Cisco Aironet AG AIR-APAG-E-K9. Aironet AG - read user manual online or download in PDF format. 1X for user-based authentication, Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) for WPA encryption, and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for WPA2 encryption. These certifications help to ensure interoperability between Wi-Fi-certified WLAN devices from different manufacturers. The Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series hardware-accelerated AES encryption supports enterprise-class, government-grade secure encryption over the WLAN without compromising performance. IEEE 802.1X authentication helps to ensure that only authorized users are allowed on the network. Backward compatibility and support for WPA client devices running TKIP, the RC4 encryption algorithm, is also supported by the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series. When an associated client sends malicious traffic through the Cisco Unified Wireless Network, a Cisco wired IDS device detects the attack and sends shun requests to Cisco wireless LAN controllers, which will then disassociate the client device. Autonomous or unified Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series Access Points support management frame protection for the authentication of 802.11 management frames by the wireless network infrastructure. This allows the network to detect spoofed frames from access points or malicious users impersonating infrastructure access points. If an access point detects a malicious attack, an incident will be generated by the access point and reports will be gathered on the Cisco wireless LAN controller, Cisco WCS, or CiscoWorks WLSE.Manufacturing applications, for example, can place WLANs in hazardous locations and remotely place antennas in the hazardous locations while securing the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series Access Points. The access point without wired connection will use the 5-GHz radio to wirelessly connect to the other access point for backhaul to the network. High transmit power, receive sensitivity, and delay spread for both 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz radios provide the long range and large coverage area consistent with these applications.

5-GHz radios are used as wireless bridges between access points for backhaul to the network. Access points may be placed above ceilings or suspended ceilings, allowing antennas to be discreetly placed below drop ceilings. The UL 2043 rating of the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series allows the access points to be placed above ceilings in plenum areas regulated by municipal fire codes. Public access applications such as large hotel buildings may also present a challenging RF environment; the antenna versatility of the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series, together with industry-leading range and coverage, provides reliable performance for the most demanding environments. When a trusted client acts maliciously, the wired IDS detects the attack and sends shun requests to Cisco WLAN controllers, which will then disassociate the client device. This allows the network to detect spoofed frames from access points or malicious users impersonating infrastructure access points. If an access point detects a malicious attack, an incident will be generated by the access points and reports will be gathered on the Cisco wireless LAN controller, Cisco WCS, or CiscoWorks WLSE. Fewer transmission errors deliver greater throughput. The access points can be powered by IEEE 802.3af PoE, Cisco inline power switches, single port power injectors, or local power. The Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series delivers enterprise-class features for challenging RF environments. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(11)JX or later (Lightweight Mode). Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software Release 4.0 or later. Ethernet LED indicates status of activity over the Ethernet. Radio LED indicates status of activity over the radio. If the access point is being used in a PoE configuration, the power drawn from the power sourcing equipment will be higher by some amount dependent on the length of the interconnecting cable. This additional power may be as high as 2.45W, bringing the total system power draw (access point and cabling to 15.4W.

I will list at the bottom the points that I'm happy to see done in future,at least the ones i remember now.: -no ipv6 support - I found a hidden page which let you set up the ipv6 but is just detached from the software engine, so after pressing save nothing happens. -the option to deny access to the admin panel from wi fi is broken, enabling or disabling it leave the wi fi client access to the web admin panel always. -Many security bugs are not patched from the wan. -the log of attacks never come by mail as the option is saying that is possible -from firefox the web admin never works, i'm forced to use chrome. -if i enable the wi fi protected setup the system will become vulnerable. -the wi fi password still in clear text after save; and as the web admin is vulnerable how can it be safe place? -You created a multi user access but where are the privileges assignation.Someone said to me thaty after 3 years I need to change the router because is obsolete and is normal to trash it, which it seems to me madness. Cause i cannot buy every 3 years a top class router. The hardware is working well, why gifts it to the trash bin.As developer i know that software and harware developing needs priorities and budget to get done, and probably you leave some things undone to developes something else, but let me know what i need to do: Do I need really to trash it and buy a shite 20 euros ADSL router every 2 years, which to me seem a bad choice, cause the brands of those are ugly. I have to say for the working technology features i've nothing to claim, as I'm very happy with them, good work done. I'm serious reconsidering to buy one like this which it runs linux inside, and for sure is upgradable all the life time; but it costs in mainteinance time and installation time to get it running correctly and secure. The issue seems not to be solved. The choices are: 1. Cheap router to trash it after two years when it's still working. 2. Professional router to trash after (?) year when it's still working. 3. Open router to never trash it which costs in mainteinance time and settings as a server. That's why for now i keep this bugged one, at least i don't trash money, time, creating more pollution too. For the real-world test we used the 50MB assorted and sequential files across zones one and two. We used the Passmark Performance Test software for the synthetic benchmarking across zones one and two. The real-world scores were much lower than the synthetic benchmark scores, reiterating the fact that it is near impossible to attain the theoretical speeds rated by the Wireless-B, -G and -N technologies. The signal strength across both the zones one and two remained at 1%, as depicted by the WirelessMon software. Overall, the data transfer speeds were anything but impressive. Probably, owing to the fact that we ran the tests on Wireless-B and -G equipments, with the router limited to Wireless-G data transfer speeds. A Wireless-N device configuration could have delivered much higher speeds and hence it is to be noted that, a Wireless-N enabled computer is equally significant in delivering faster data transfer speeds rather than just holding the router itself responsible. Adopting a simple and easy setup, with ultra-portable body dimensions and rich-assortment of features makes this a good product. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the unit. When you reset the router you take all the settings you changed in the past and revert them all to factory defaults. It is very helpful to make a list of all the possible settings you have changed in the past. Consider the following list: To do this you may need to call your Internet provider. This starts the reset process which can take several minutes to complete. If you don't hold the reset button down for the full 5 seconds you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you intended. Doing so could result in permanent damage to the device. I strongly recommend trying other troubleshooting methods before you continue. If you aren't sure what these are, check them out in our Linksys WAG120N Login Guide. You might have accidentally rebooted the router instead of resetting it. Try resetting it again but this time hold down the reset button for a little longer. Default passwords are easy to guess and can leave your router at risk. Try to make your new password unique. Is it possible to use one of those as a kind of a 'ADSL bridge' on to connected Sonic wall firewall. How I picture it is that adsl connection is terminating on one of above Cisco boxes, which is connected via Ethernet or wan port to sonic wall, and it's only passing the adsl connection on to sonic wall which in result will end up with my ISP assigned IP address ? Is this on a hidden page like the advanced wireless page. But since I have two lines and two modems, I was wondering if I could bond them together and make a faster one. Ryan Bateman 5.0 out of 5 stars This allows us to setup multiple access points that you can move between without disconnecting and reconnecting. We have tried with other home style equipment and it really didn't do the job. I have deployed these in a few different houses and two of them can cover very large areas. They will both be listed as Aironet 1131AG access points.I am a field engineer and have used it for my CCNA wireless exam. I think Cisco needs to fix that and make it easier to use and fix as needed. This access point works as Power over ethernet and can be plugged into the wall for power. When it has both power sources connected it will not automatically detect it and it will not work. Also there are many other issues with this AP, but the newer Cisco AP's have corrected some of those issues. They are working great.Had other brands but they didn't have the signal strength. End of lifetime products are a good buy for tech capable home users.I accidentally purchased this when I was looking for the stand alone AP. Notice the difference in the model number(AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9). This means it's the LAP version, which requires a controller device and doesn't work as stand alone.

Hardware-assisted AES encryption provides a high level of security without performance degradation. The CISCO AIR-AP1131AG-A-K9 access points can be powered by Cisco inline power switches, single port power injectors or local power. We have it set up for the public wifi for the church I work for. We have an auditorium that seats about 1,000 people, and we have the AP set up on the opposite side of a large room across from the foyer of the auditorium (in the back). We can get a signal clear up on stage. That's probably about 800-900 feet, and going through two or three cinder-block walls. It's not a very strong signal at that point, so that's probably close to the limit.I guess the bottom line is that this AP is not for the consumer. You should be fairly technically savvy to use this access point. It's more complex, but that complexity gets you more control.I had a client that has tried a number of other WAPs with dissapointing results. I finally convinced them to spring for a AP1131AG even though I have never installed an Aironet before. They are so PLEASED. Up to 30 people connected with zero issues. Speed and most important reliable connection is great. I now notice when I connect a laptop to it the connection is very fast unlike many other WAP I have tried. Bottom line: This Aironet really is all that and WELL worth the money if you really need rock solid performance.

I was able however to configure it for being a stand alone AP using the other reviews from reviewers who also got the wrong one. With that being said, it's Cisco, so once I did get it working correctly I haven't touched it since. They are easy to setup, work well and the shipping came in on time as promised. I have no complaints about my purchase so it deserves 5 stars.I sent a note to the buyer and got no reply. Now I had to spend 31 dollars to get a power supply.Clearly a good product, however, you'll need a networking specialist to set this up. The product did not include any instructions on how to configure. Quite complicated configuration for the average residential use.In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. This is a solid piece of hardware you can feel from the heft of it when you pick it up.If you are unsure of configuring an Aironet I would make sure you get a SMARTnet support agreement from Cisco. It came with sparse documention.Current uptime according to the AP is 8 months, 4 days. Most reliable durable AP I have ever seen. The range is incredible, I get a decent connection in the parking lot from our office on the third story. I bought 3 of these for around the office working in tandem and they have not failed me once. Status ring is really fun to look at and is the coolest thing I've seen to tell me how the AP is doing without having to even touch it.It won't cook me breakfast either which is pretty much a dealbreaker with me as far as AP's go. Setup can be on the more involved side but if you are buying this you should already know this.Comes with WebGUI setup or Cisco CLI. WebGUI works but is picky about browser (likes IE over the rest) and can be a bit sluggish. CLI on the otherhand is probably the best way to set this thing up. If you want wireless that you never have to think about again, get this guy. And if you are getting this for your house, I envy you.Great price point. It is regularly subjected to abuse. The design is unobtrusive and resilient. One random user did manage to pull the power out on it, still not sure how. Other than that, absolutely no problems. The CLI looks just like other Cisco gear. Great if you are a Cisco person, bad if you are not.The fact that the light ring is really a status code is not obvious to people who haven't been told.Set them up and that's it.It is also by far the most feature-rich.Click here for more details.
